Archeogenetics is a historical discipline in which the knowledge of genetics, especially molecular genetics, is used to study past humanity and groups of people. In particular, DNA analysis obtained from archaeological remains, DNA analysis of the current population (which may contribute to reflections on the movement of groups of people in the past) and DNA analysis of animals and plants (especially domesticated ones - history of domestication can be studied) are used. Statistical methods developed by molecular genetics can also be used to analyze archaeological data.
